Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude desktop used to remember what folder you were working in automatically. Suddenly that stopped and you have to tell it each time which is hella irritating :)

What Should Happen?

It should remember what folder you were last working in

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue may be resolved by checking the application's settings or configuration for any changes that could be causing Claude desktop to forget the last working folder.

Guidance

  • Review the Claude desktop application settings to ensure that the option to remember the last working folder is enabled.
  • Check if there are any updates or changes in the Anthropics API that could be affecting the application's behavior.
  • Try resetting the application's settings to their default values to see if it resolves the issue.
  • If the issue persists, try downgrading to a previous version of Claude Code that was known to work correctly.

Notes

The lack of error messages or logs makes it difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue. Additionally, without knowing the last working version of Claude Code, it's challenging to determine if this is a regression or a new issue.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Since the issue is a regression and the last working version is not specified, it's recommended to try resetting the application's settings or downgrading to a previous version as a temporary workaround until the issue is fully resolved.
