Bug

The Codex Desktop “Plugins” page renders with a large black overlay/glitch that covers the plugin cards and makes the page mostly unusable.

Environment

  • Codex Desktop: 26.429.30905
  • Build: 2345
  • Electron: 41.2.0
  • macOS: 26.4.1
  • Mac: MacBookPro16,1
  • CPU: Intel Core i9
  • GPU: Intel UHD Graphics 630 + AMD Radeon Pro 5500M
  • UI language: French

What I tried

  • Reset macOS, issue still present
  • Removed Codex caches:
    • GPUCache
    • DawnGraphiteCache
    • DawnWebGPUCache
    • Cache
  • Reinstalled Codex from the official DMG
  • Disabled automatic graphics switching
  • Launched from /Applications/Codex.app
  • Removed quarantine attribute

None of these fixed the issue.

Expected

The Plugins page should render normally.

Actual

A large black rectangle/overlay appears over the page, hiding much of the UI. The rest of Codex appears usable, but the Modules d'extension / Plugins page is visually broken.

Screenshot

I can provide screenshots showing the overlay if needed.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue with the Codex Desktop "Plugins" page rendering with a large black overlay might be related to graphics or Electron version compatibility, and trying a different graphics setting or updating Electron could potentially resolve the issue.

Guidance

  • Verify if the issue persists when launching Codex with a different GPU (e.g., forcing the use of the Intel UHD Graphics 630 instead of the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M) to isolate if the problem is GPU-specific.
  • Check if updating Electron to a newer version (if available) resolves the compatibility issue, as the current version (41.2.0) might have known bugs or limitations.
  • Test the Codex Desktop on a different macOS version or environment to determine if the issue is specific to the current setup (macOS 26.4.1, MacBookPro16,1).
  • Consider providing the screenshots of the overlay issue for further analysis, as visual details might help in identifying the root cause.

Example

No specific code snippet can be provided without more details on the Codex Desktop's internal implementation. However, if the issue is related to Electron, checking the Electron documentation for known issues with GPU compatibility or rendering might offer insights.

Notes

The provided information suggests a potential compatibility issue between Codex Desktop, Electron, and the graphics setup on the MacBookPro16,1. However, without more specific details on the Codex Desktop's rendering engine or Electron's configuration, it's challenging to provide a definitive fix.

Recommendation

Apply a workaround by trying to launch Codex with a different GPU or updating Electron if a newer version is available, as this might mitigate the compatibility issue causing the black overlay on the Plugins page.
