Bug Description Why would max effort (my default mode) suddenly become max verbosity? The more words there are, the less meaning they carry. Claude Opus 4.7 in default mode is a stupid blabber, if compared to Opus 4.6 when max reasoning is on. A good thinker expresses thoughts in a more concise manner, when compared to someone who doesn't think through as much. Please allow me to regulate verbosity (or at least don't force it on me), or else I feel I am forced to turn Claude into a Caveman. This word diarrhea is intolerable.

Environment Info

  • Platform: linux
  • Terminal: tmux
  • Version: 2.1.116
  • Feedback ID: 8f01cef4-119a-44af-a040-d3dcecc70859

Errors No erros, just subtle (unconfigurable AFAIK), drift in behavior.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can be mitigated by exploring configuration options to regulate verbosity in Claude Opus 4.7.

Guidance

  • Review the documentation for Claude Opus 4.7 to see if there are any configuration options or flags that can adjust the verbosity level.
  • Compare the configuration files or settings between Opus 4.6 and Opus 4.7 to identify any changes that might be causing the increased verbosity.
  • Check if there are any environment variables or command-line arguments that can be used to control the verbosity of Claude Opus 4.7.
  • Consider reaching out to the developers or community support for Claude Opus to inquire about potential fixes or workarounds for this issue.

Notes

The issue seems to be related to a change in behavior between versions 4.6 and 4.7 of Claude Opus, but without more technical details, it's difficult to provide a precise solution.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Since the issue is related to a change in behavior and not a specific error, trying to find a workaround by adjusting configuration options or seeking community support is the most viable option at this point.
