Feature Description

display.runtime_footer can show the model, context percentage, and cwd in gateway final replies, but it cannot show the active reasoning effort. For Telegram users who switch reasoning with /reasoning, there is no compact way to verify the current effort level directly in the footer.

Motivation

Gateway chats are often the primary UI for Hermes. A compact reasoning-effort footer field makes the current execution mode visible without running /reasoning after each change.

Proposed Solution

Add an optional reasoning field to display.runtime_footer.fields.

Example config:

  runtime_footer:
    enabled: true
    fields: [model, reasoning, context_pct, cwd]

Example Telegram footer:

gpt-5.4 · medium · 42% · ~/proj

Expected behavior:

• reasoning renders the active effort level (minimal, low, medium, high, xhigh, or none).
• If the field has no value, it is skipped like existing footer fields.
• Existing footer configs continue to work unchanged.
