  • This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

I have a question, and a suggestion that could possibly turn around some of the bad feelings Max plan users might have accumulated over the last few weeks, help a lot of us be more than happy to pay claude, and get more control over what we put into our context.

Since claude code itself supports --bare mode, why wouldn't you allow max users to use it? It is still claude code, so no third party, we stay in your ecosystem, and we get to manage our context using your harness, our way.

Proposed Solution

Allowing max users to be able to use --bare mode would solve the same problem Pi has been solving for us, and it also would solve the 'feature bloat' issues. People who don't want anything more than a basic harness, can stay in --bare, people who want everything uses all, or for different projects different modes.

Wouldn't this alleviate a lot of the bad feelings people got after 3rd party harnesses like Pi got hard banned?

extent analysis

TL;DR

Allowing Max plan users to use the --bare mode in Claude Code could alleviate feature bloat issues and improve user satisfaction.

Guidance

  • Consider adding a configuration option or flag to enable --bare mode for Max plan users, allowing them to manage their context using the Claude Code harness.
  • Evaluate the potential impact of enabling --bare mode on the overall user experience and feature set, ensuring it aligns with the product's goals and vision.
  • Assess the technical feasibility of implementing this feature, including any potential changes to the CLI commands and flags.
  • Gather feedback from Max plan users to validate the demand for this feature and identify potential edge cases or concerns.

Notes

The proposal to allow Max plan users to use --bare mode is based on the assumption that this feature is currently only available to other users or plans. The technical details of implementing this feature are not provided, and further evaluation is needed to determine the feasibility and potential impact.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Allow Max plan users to use --bare mode, as it could potentially address feature bloat issues and improve user satisfaction, while also keeping users within the Claude Code ecosystem.
