Error Message

I am experiencing an authentication error stating my account is suspended due to a Terms of Service violation when trying to log into the Gemini CLI.

Root Cause

I believe the suspension was caused because I unintentionally linked my Google Account to an unauthorized third-party VS Code extension called 'OpenCode'. I want to confirm that I have completely disconnected 'OpenCode' from my account permissions and removed it entirely. My account connections are now clean.

What is the problem?

Hello Gemini CLI Team,

I am experiencing an authentication error stating my account is suspended due to a Terms of Service violation when trying to log into the Gemini CLI.

I previously contacted Google One Support (Case ID: 0-5987000040641) and Google Developer Program Support (Request ID: 4874947). They informed me that since my benefits are integrated with my Google AI subscription, the Gemini CLI team has the specialized tools to investigate and resolve this, and they explicitly directed me to open an issue here.

I believe the suspension was caused because I unintentionally linked my Google Account to an unauthorized third-party VS Code extension called 'OpenCode'. I want to confirm that I have completely disconnected 'OpenCode' from my account permissions and removed it entirely. My account connections are now clean.

As a premium subscriber, I heavily rely on the official Gemini CLI for my work and assure you I will only use the official tools moving forward. Could you please review my account and restore my access?

Thank you for your assistance. Fateh

What did you expect to happen?

I expected to be able to successfully authenticate and log into the Gemini CLI with my Google account, as I have completely removed the unauthorized third-party extension that initially caused the suspension.

Additional context

I have attached a screenshot of my Google Account's 'Third-party apps & services' page to prove that the 'OpenCode' extension has been fully disconnected and my account is clean. Please let me know if you need any further information.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The user's Gemini CLI account access may be restored by verifying the removal of the unauthorized 'OpenCode' extension and reviewing the account for any remaining Terms of Service violations.

Guidance

  • Review the attached screenshots to confirm that 'OpenCode' has been fully disconnected from the Google Account and that there are no other suspicious third-party apps connected.
  • Investigate the account's history to ensure there are no other potential Terms of Service violations that may have contributed to the suspension.
  • Verify the user's claim of being a premium subscriber and their reliance on the official Gemini CLI for work.
  • Consider reaching out to the user for additional information or context if necessary to facilitate the account review process.

Notes

The issue lacks technical details about the Gemini CLI or the 'OpenCode' extension, so a more detailed analysis or code-based solution is not possible.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Review the user's account and verify the removal of the unauthorized extension before restoring access, as the user has already taken steps to correct the issue and claims to only use official tools moving forward.
