What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.422.21459 (build 2049)

What subscription do you have?

[fill in: Plus / Pro / Team / Enterprise / etc.]

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 23.6.0 arm64 macOS 14.8.5 (23J423)

What issue are you seeing?

A stray horizontal white rounded bar appears in the left sidebar, just above the "Settings" row.

It overlaps the conversation list area and looks like a detached overlay/rendering artifact. This breaks the sidebar layout visually and makes the UI look corrupted.

I attached a screenshot showing the issue.

<img width="294" height="40" alt="Image" src="https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/9ca64afe-f013-4881-bb0b-a6dd717ebc85" />

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Open Codex on macOS.
  2. Keep the left sidebar visible with recent conversations listed.
  3. Navigate between threads and/or resize/open the sidebar during normal use.
  4. Look at the lower part of the sidebar, above the "Settings" row.
  5. A horizontal white rounded bar may appear and overlap the sidebar content.

What is the expected behavior?

The sidebar should render cleanly, without any floating horizontal overlay or overlapping UI artifact.

Additional information

  • The UI/content language was Chinese when this happened.
  • The screenshot shows the artifact above the "Settings" row.
  • If helpful, I can also provide a screen recording.

extent analysis

TL;DR

The issue can likely be resolved by reporting the bug to the Codex App developers, as it appears to be a rendering artifact specific to the macOS version and the Chinese UI language.

Guidance

  • Verify that the issue persists across different macOS versions and UI languages to determine if it's specific to the current configuration.
  • Try to reproduce the issue with a different subscription plan to see if it's related to a specific feature or limitation.
  • Check if the issue occurs when the sidebar is resized or when navigating between threads to identify any patterns.
  • Consider providing the screen recording to the developers for further investigation, as it may help them reproduce and fix the issue.

Example

No code snippet is provided as this issue appears to be related to the UI rendering and not a code-specific problem.

Notes

The issue may be specific to the combination of macOS version, UI language, and Codex App version, so it's essential to provide as much information as possible to the developers for them to investigate and fix the issue.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Report the bug to the Codex App developers and wait for a fix, as it's likely a rendering issue that requires a patch or update to resolve.
