What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.429.30905 (2345)

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

macOS

What issue are you seeing?

I have two screens, and both codex and the little Pet window are on the same screen. I switch between 'desktops' on the mac (using mission control) on the same screen codex is - when I'm on a different screen, any notification update / message update from Codex forces a 'Desktop Switch' back to where Codex App is running. I frequently get interrupted as I've got my browser opened on a different desktop.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  • Have Codex on Screen 2, Desktop 2 or 3 etc, have the Pet showing in the corner of the same screen
  • Switch to Desktop 1 on the same screen
  • Any update in Codex forces a Desktop switch from 1 → 2

What is the expected behavior?

Stop switching the active desktop

TL;DR

The issue can be mitigated by moving the Codex App and its Pet window to the same desktop where most work is done, to minimize desktop switching interruptions.

Guidance

  • Verify that the issue occurs only when the Codex App is on a different desktop than the current one, and that moving it to the same desktop stops the unwanted switching.
  • Try moving the Codex App to the desktop where the browser is open, to see if this reduces interruptions.
  • Consider using a third-party window management tool to lock the Codex App to a specific desktop or screen, preventing it from triggering desktop switches.
  • If the issue persists, try resetting the Codex App's window settings or preferences to their default values.

Notes

This guidance assumes that the issue is specific to the Codex App's behavior on macOS with multiple desktops, and may not apply to other platforms or versions of the app.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Move the Codex App to the same desktop as the browser, to minimize interruptions and desktop switching. This is a temporary solution until a potential fix is available in a future version of the Codex App.
