Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported for this version/platform combination
  • This is a single bug report
  • I am using the latest version of the Claude Desktop app

What's Wrong? The Cowork tab is completely missing from the Claude Desktop app after a recent auto-update. It was previously working correctly on this same machine and OS.

Expected Behavior The Cowork tab should appear alongside Chat and Code in the navigation, as it did before the update.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Desktop app on Windows 11 Home
  2. Observe that only the Chat tab is visible — no Cowork tab
  3. Restart the app — issue persists
  4. Restart the machine — issue persists
  5. Reinstalled the app from claude.com/download — issue persists

Environment

  • App version: 1.3883.0.0
  • OS: Windows 11 Home
  • Interface: Claude Desktop App
  • Plan: Claude Pro
  • Virtual Machine Platform: Enabled
  • Windows Hypervisor Platform: Enabled

extent analysis

TL;DR

The most likely fix for the missing Cowork tab in the Claude Desktop app is to check for any configuration or settings changes that may have occurred during the auto-update and try resetting the app to its default settings.

Guidance

  • Verify that the Cowork feature is enabled in the app's settings, as it is visible in the Settings section but not in the navigation.
  • Check if there are any updates available for the Claude Desktop app, as the issue may have been resolved in a newer version.
  • Try resetting the app to its default settings to see if it resolves the issue, as the problem started after an auto-update.
  • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the Claude support team for further assistance, as the problem may be specific to the user's configuration or environment.

Notes

The issue seems to be specific to the Windows 11 Home environment and the Claude Pro plan, and it is not clear if this issue affects other platforms or plans.

Recommendation

Apply workaround: Try resetting the app to its default settings, as this may resolve the issue without requiring an update or further technical assistance.
