Bug Description

Hermes Desktop has a lightning icon/toggle near the bottom/status area that appears to re-enable itself after being disabled. The function of the icon is not clear from the UI.

I initially thought this was a “Use fast” control, but I am not sure. The visible evidence only confirms it is a lightning icon/toggle.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Hermes Desktop.
  2. Locate the lightning icon/toggle near the bottom/status area.
  3. Disable it.
  4. Continue chatting, switch sessions, or wait for a run/context transition.
  5. Observe whether the lightning toggle re-enables itself without user action.

Expected Behavior

  • If the user disables the lightning toggle, it should remain disabled until explicitly re-enabled.
  • If the app intentionally re-enables it, the UI should explain why.
  • The control should have a clear tooltip/label explaining what it does.

Actual Behavior

The lightning control appears to re-enable itself. Its purpose is unclear from the UI, making it hard to tell whether this is intentional behavior, a mode switch, or a resource-affecting setting.

Proposed Fix (optional)

  • Persist the toggle state if it is user-controlled.

  • Add tooltip/accessible label for the lightning icon.
