  3. Run "claude" in Windows PowerShell (old) → works successfully

Claude Desktop installer fails with HRESULT 0x80073CFF on Windows. PowerShell 7 (also MSIX) fails with "Es wurden keine anwendbaren App-Lizenzen gefunden".

What Should Happen?

Workaround that worked: Install Git for Windows via winget install Git.Git After that, running "claude" in the old Windows PowerShell works successfully.

Suggested fix: The installer or documentation should mention Git for Windows as a fallback when MSIX installation fails.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Download Claude Desktop installer from claude.ai/download (Windows x64)
  2. Run installer as Administrator
  3. Installation fails with: "AddPackage failed with HRESULT 0x80073CFF"
  4. Tried PowerShell 7 as alternative (winget install Microsoft.PowerShell)
  5. PowerShell 7 also fails with MSIX error: "Es wurden keine anwendbaren App-Lizenzen gefunden"

Workaround that fixed it:

  1. Install Git for Windows: winget install Git.Git
  2. Install Claude Code via npm: npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code
  3. Run "claude" in Windows PowerShell (old) → works successfully
