What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.602.30954 • Released Jun 5, 2026

What subscription do you have?

Currently Plus. I had Pro on Apr 29, 2026, when the feature rolled out, but I still did not have the “Control this PC” tab.

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

The Windows Codex app is missing the “Control this PC” tab shown in OpenAI’s video https://youtu.be/MPIAB-8VmCo?t=75.

I have had this issue since Apr 29, 2026, the day this feature rolled out. At that time I had a Pro subscription, and the “Control this PC” tab was still missing.

By default, my Codex app did not show the Connections tab at all. I asked an AI model to investigate the issue, and it enabled the unsupported remote_connections = true config flag only for diagnosis. After that, the Connections tab appeared, but it only showed “SSH connections from this PC”. The “Control this PC” tab was still missing.

I also asked a friend with Plus to check their Windows Codex app. On their default install, they also do not have the Connections tab.

In OpenAI’s video, Settings > Connections has two tabs:

  • Control this PC
  • SSH

ChatGPT mobile shows “Set up Codex”, but after tapping it, mobile says:

“Waiting for desktop... Follow the instructions in the desktop app to get connected.”

There are no matching instructions or setup UI in the desktop app.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

  1. Install or update Codex Desktop on Windows.
  2. Open Codex Desktop.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Go to Connections, if visible.
  5. Observe that only “SSH connections from this PC” is shown.
  6. The “Control this PC” tab shown in OpenAI’s video is missing.

On a default Windows install, the Connections tab may be missing entirely. I only made the Connections tab visible locally by adding the unsupported remote_connections = true config flag for diagnosis, but even then the “Control this PC” tab is still missing.

I also tried a clean reinstall. I followed AI-guided steps to completely uninstall Codex, remove Codex-related local files, and then reinstall the app from scratch. After the fresh reinstall, the issue was still the same.

What is the expected behavior?

Settings > Connections on Windows should show the “Control this PC” tab.
