Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Claude Code intermittently outputs "court" as a literal string instead of properly invoking tools (especially str_replace_editor or Bash). This causes the tool call to stall.

Reproduction:

  • Complex multi-edit sessions
  • After several str_replace operations
  • Frequency: ~50% of attempted str_replace calls in long sessions

Workaround:

  • Restart Claude Code session
  • Simplify commands (no here-doc, single command per Bash call)
